Operation School Bell®

OSB-Schoolbus.jpg

Operation School Bell began nearly fifty years ago as a one-woman effort to provide clothing to disadvantaged children; it is now the signature national philanthropic program for Assistance League's 117 chapters across the united states.

Assistance League Bellingham is proud to be able to serve the children and members of our Whatcom County community. All funds raised by our chapter remain in Whatcom County to serve those who may be in need of assistance.

Assistance League Bellingham works with the school disticts in Whatcom County who identify the children most in need.  These children are registered with us by the schools and appointments are made for them to come be fitted for new school clothes.

Operation School Bell® provides new school clothes to students in grades K through 5 including:

  • Winter coats, hats, gloves
  • 2 pairs of jeans
  • 2 T-shirts
  • 6 pairs of underwear
  • 6 pairs of socks
  • Shoe vouchers
  • Toiletries
  • In addition we provide middle school students with new sweatshirts and shoe vouchers.

In the 2009-2010 school year Assistance League Bellingham provided these new items to 1125 grade school  and 265 middle school students through Operation School Bell

Assistance League Bellingham is an all -volunteer nonprofit organization  dedicated to community enrichment through community service.  We rely on financial support through individual giving, grants, and fund rasing efforts such as our annual Yule Boutique, Fall Fling Luncheon, and MardiGras Auction Gala. We would welcome you to become involved in any way you can to help us continue our committment to serve our community.
